Aug 6th,2009

Rebekah has just begun the second week of IV treatments. She began her first full dose yesterday and so far seems to be tolerating it. We have had a few times where they were having a hard time getting blood return from her port, so they had to change her gripper needle, which is painful, but she takes it extremely well. She is not feeling the best today, but we find sometimes when she has a busy day the day before, she does not do so well the next one or two. We really hope now that she is on the full dose of Rocephin that in the next few weeks we will be seeing a change. We also know that allot of people with Lyme disease have what they call a HERX reaction where all of her symptoms can become allot worse for a period of time. This can be a good thing as it means that the drugs are working. You often get worse before you get better when be treated for chronic Lyme. We are planning to travel to see some family next weekend, just to get away for a few days, and VON says it is not problem to have her treatments done there. Next week we are both taking some vacation time, so we can have some quality family time. We have to travel to the city on Monday as Rebekah has another MRI scheduled, will let you know how that goes. We also plan on doing some day trips depending on how Rebekah is feeling.
