Well everyone it has been over a year since I have updated this blog, so I guess it is time. When I last updated Rebekah was doing relatively well and we felt we finally had control of the Lyme. Since then Rebekah has had 2 relapses. Last July she became sick again while away at camp in PEI. She was so sick she could not stay at camp, so my dear friend Rae had to go and pick her up and take her back to her cottage in PEI for 3 more days until she was well enough to travel home. The next month we were off to our doctor in Cape Breton. He said he felt she was battling one of the co-infections that often is contracted from the tick the same time Lyme is, called Bartonella. So we began another course of treatment, this time with a natural med, not antibiotics. Unfortunately the drops were awful tasting, but Rebekah managed to get through the 3 months of treatment, and seemed to be feeling better than she ever had, since she became sick. Rebekah was doing quite well from the time she finished her meds in November until the end of February this year. Unfortunately she became unwell again at that point. She has been continuing to go downhill ever since. This time she has been sicker than with her second relapse. We have contacted her doctor again. He told us that Bartonella is very hard to get rid of. He told me that it gets into your red blood cells, and it takes 4 months to replenish your red blood cells. So this time we are going to treat her for 5 months and will be adding a few other natural meds to the concoction. Please continue to pray for Rebekah. She has been very discouraged this time, and so are we. It has been a long 4 years for her, but our sweet girl always has a smile on her face.She will be starting her new meds this coming week. Hopefully this will be her last round of treatment, but their is no way to tell. Will do my best to keep you updated.
