Sorry I have not updated lately. Rebekah's MRI came back with no change, so we are now going to wait 6 months before doing another one, which is a relief for us:)
As far as her Lyme battle, it continues. The last 2 months Rebekah has had no improvement, and has continued to have some old symptoms back which I mentioned in February. Her stomach has been giving her a lot of grief. She is scheduled for an ultrasound this Thursday to take a look at her gallbladder, as the meds she is on can be hard on it. We are glad to see she has improved to about 75%, but are frustrated that we cannot get her past that. This is not unusual behavior for Lyme disease. Yesterday I spoke with her doctor. We are going to try another protocol. She is now going to be receiving IV Rocephin 2 times a day, verses 1. She will do this for 4 days in a row, and then be off the meds for 3 days. This has been something they have been doing with more Lyme patients. The theory is that during the 3 days off, the spirochete have a chance to regroup, and then when she does the 4 days of stronger meds, it kills off more bacteria. She may have to go on a pump for this, which she will have to carry around. We will discuss this with the VON nurses . Having them twice a day means her treatment will be at 8am and 8pm. Brian and I both work at 8, so the pump would administer the drugs for her without a nurse needing to be here for the am treatment. We might be able to change one of our work schedules, but that is still in the works. Please continue to pray for Rebekah, it has been almost 2 years now battling this disease. A big part of a little girl's life.
